I haven't played golf since October in Okinawa. Not sure that I could even swing a club. I'll find out tomorrow if the layoff was a good or bad thing. I'm going to play Ocean Palace down in Nagasaki
tomrrow.
We went away for the weekend to
Shimabara and
Unzen on the island of Kyushu. It was truly beautiful. Went south and started the day with a dip in an
onsen in
Unzen, and then drove to
Obama to check into the hotel. We did the traditional
ryokan thing....complete with meal on a low table in a tatami room. Took another dip in their spa later that evening while sipping an ice cold
Asahi. The next day we went to
Shimabara and visited the sights around Mt.
Fungen which is an active volcano...hence the many hot springs. The day was spent marveling at the mountain, visiting
Shimabara Castle, shopping at recycle shops (bought a cool go game set), and looking for the
Samarai's houses. Ended the night back at home in
Sasebo.
